Practical Tips on How to Make Your Exterior Painting Last
Sometimes all a house needs is a fresh coat of paint so that it would look new. Ideally, exterior painting should last you a good 2 to 3 years before it requires a make over. Painting the exterior of your house can be a tedious and perilous chore so unless you have the skills and know how it is better to hire a paint expert.
There are however a few practical tips in painting the exterior of your home. The first thing to do is make a survey of the job that needs to be done. Do you want to change the entire color of your exteriors or do you just want to paint over the damaged parts? If you’re planning to change the color of your exteriors you will have to determine how much paint you will need and the type of paint to use. Different surfaces require a specific paint material. What will work for wood will not necessarily work for concrete or stone. In repairing cracks, paint bubbles or chipped paint on the wall you must first clean the surface, take off loose old paint and apply a primer before putting on your base paint. This will make your base paint adhere better to the surface and the end result will be a smoother finish.
